In 1939, the Natural History Museum was installed in the building of the former First Female Grammar School.

The rich collections of the Natural History Museum are divided into the collections of minerals, rock samples, fossils and extant mollusks, insects, birds, mammals, as well as the General Herbarium of the Balkan Peninsula. The Natural History Museum does not have a permanent exhibition, and the exhibitions are organized in the Natural History Museum Gallery.
