The Victor Monument - Kalemegdan Park
The Victor, a recognizable symbol of Belgrade, erected in 1928, is the work of the famous Yugoslav sculptor Ivan Meštrović. It was originally set up on Terazije Square, but the ladies of Belgrade protested against the statue of a nude male figure, holding a sword in one hand, and a pigeon in the other. After that it was placed on the 11-meter high pillar, facing the cliff above the Sava and Danube confluence.
The Victor Monument is currently under reconstruction.
