The 1st Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities starts on Sunday in Belgrade, Serbia, and will take place from 29th of January to the 5th of February in Hotel Crowne Plaza Belgrade.

More than 100 players from 33 countries will take part in the event which will be played under the Swiss System, with six rounds. The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. Default time is 15 minutes.

The top-seeded teams are Poland (Rating average 2327), Israel (Rating average 2177), Hungary (Rating average 2141), Croatia (Rating average 2120), and Cuba (Rating average 2118).

The best-rated players to represent their teams in the event are: GM Tazbir Marcin (Poland, 2507), Gruenfeld Yehuda (Israel, 2414), Molenda Marcin (Poland, 2381), Severino Sander (Philippines, 2364), and Sarkar Justin (FIDE team, 2345).
